YEMENI DISH
Three years ago, I was determined to import Yemeni honey to the Netherlands, but due to regulatory challenges between Yemen and the Netherlands, I was unable to proceed. It was achallenging journey filled with setbacks ,but I have learned when one door closes, others open.
My love for cooking has always been a constant source of joy,and sharing my homemade dishes with my neighbours has fostered strong connections and community bonds. The positive feedback I have recieved has shown me the power of food as a connector ,transcending cultural barriers and bringing people together.
Recognizing the need for growth, I followed an academy to learn how to cater for large events , private garherings and parties.Living in a diverse city centre like Amsterdam, I have observed that Yemeni cuisine is underrepresented and often overlooked. When people ask me where do I come from. I often receive one of two responses: either they mention the war or they have no idea where Yemen is. This inspired me to create a platform to share my culture through our traditional dishes and the stories behind then as every dish tells a story.
